What Is The Montessori Method Of Education?

The Montessori method of Education is basically a unique approach to learning rather than the old fashion way of teaching the child concepts.

The different available Montessori apparatus and material, draw towards a child’s interest and help in their learning and understanding without much adult supervision.

The Montessori method of teaching is an educational system that encourages teachers to view children and classroom education differently than the normal children teacher relationship.

Instead of focusing on academics, the Montessori method focuses on encouraging each child's individual differences, providing a nurturing environment to teach social interaction and emotional skills.

The Montessori method was created in the early 20th century by Maria Montessori, an Italian educator and physician.

The philosophy behind the Montessori method is that every child have their own internal guidance for self-directed development.

The teacher acts as a guide, watching over the classroom to remove obstacles from learning but not participating directly.

Lessons given by the teacher often involve how to use or play with the various Montessori apparatus.

Instead of instructing with rote lectures, handouts, worksheets, and lesson plans, a Montessori teacher will offer guidance, but the child is ultimately responsible for his or her own individual learning.

The classroom will contain Montessori apparatus which allow children to explore freely and learn.

For example, in a Montessori classroom, it will have a bucket of Lego blocks and several pictures of simple objects like a car or a house, which the children can build if they want.

The classroom might also have books, crayons, a xylophone, or other engaging activities. The whole idea behind the Montessori classroom is allowing children to learn through playing.

Why Choose Montessori?

From birth, children will instinctively reach out to explore and learn about the world around them.

They love to touch, to taste; they will be curious about new sounds, smile at familiar faces & voices; they reach for bright colours and explore interesting shapes.

Learning is a process that involves all of the senses, especially touch, and the senses feed the child’s absorbent and eager mind.

The different Montessori Apparatus invites children to manipulate and explore and cultivate their individual initiative, curiosity and motivation.

Montessori classrooms are carefully arranged to provide freedom to explore and play.

Learning becomes a joyful path on which children are guided by their curiosity and discovery
