PLAYGROUP

Playgroup children (2yrs) learn best when they are engaged in activities that involve their senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. Play is thus the main focus of our Playgroup programme.

To ensure our playgroup children enjoy a great deal of experiences, we use a wide variety of resources and materials including toys that they can manipulate. Activity quilts of different textures: attachments that squeak or jingle; rattles; activity bars and soft balls to throw and retrieve. With these, our playgroup children learn the concept of cause-and-effect and their motor development will be enhanced.

At the end of the playgroup year, our playgroup children would have enriched experiences in music and movement, creative arts and craft, pretend play and outdoor activities.

TODDLER

Language and social skills come into play as Nursery children interact more and more with their classmates and friends. Early games such as puzzles and Lego introduce the concept of taking turns and sharing, whilst letters, words and number-recognition toys and games reinforce math and language learning. Art materials such as crayons, markers and paints are creative favorites for most children this age.

Nursery children are introduced to phonics and language arts thus making them familiar with phonics characters and the sounds they make. They are intuitively accessible to three- and four-year olds, such as Grandpa Garry, Yummy Yogurt, Vroom Van and Lollipop Lady. These alliterative names also enhance phonemic awareness at an early age. Apart from that, numerous stories, rhymes, songs, and dramatic play based on themes will enhance your child’s learning experience.

KINDERGARTEN

By the time our children are in Kindergarten( 5 yrs), they will have longer attention spans and be able to sit for longer periods of time. They will also have better social skills and eager to create new ideas and expand their imagination. They will thus begin to experience themes and activities that seek to broaden their horizons.

At this level, Mandarin Language lessons are thought on developing the children's vocabulary and verbal abilities through stories, music and dance. Written exercises will also be introduced, usually in the second half of the year.

For our Kindergarten and Pre Primary children, it becomes a structured systematic course of learning emphasising:

  • Reading and spelling.

  • Creative Writing

  • Phonic Skills.

  • Whole Word Recognition.

  • Sentence

PRE PRIMARY

Playing and learning becomes sophisticated as our Pre Primary children start their learning Journey. These children work well together spending time on solutions, reading, and performing as a team.

They are now confident in conversing in English and chinese and able to read and write the languages in sentences. Pre Primary children love to express what they learn as they work with different Montessori apparatus and materials. At this level, they will also experience weekly spelling challenges in class to boost their confidence.
